A cleft lip is not limited to aesthetic problems but can burden the individual’s health status and well-being. A combination of cleft lip and cleft palate may disturb speech ability, nutritional intake, craniofacial development, and psychosocial disturbance.
Surgery should be performed to repair the cleft condition and improve the patient’s quality of life. Thus, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia, hold free surgery to help individuals with cleft lip and/or palate as a community services program.
